About Us

We upgraded and replaced most of the electrical system in 2001. The existing system was "original", meaning hacked by each owner in some very sad ways. We replaced the main boards for both AC and DC with Blue Sea Systems panels (AC: PN8097, DC: PN8068), and installed a Heart Freedom 25 inverter/charger with a Link 2000 interface. We have the manuals and installations guides for this equipment, as well as a catalog with contact information for Blue Sea.

The new panels are located under the companion way steps.

:

The DC system on Sovereign Nation is designed for long use and deep discharge. It uses 2 banks of 2 deep cycle 6 volt batteries (golf cart style) tied in series and isolated through a 4 position battery switch. System works great, and the batteries were new in June 2003.

The AC is provided by shore power. We have a 50', 30 amp Marineco power cord.
