The
Instrumentation
aboard Sapien is as computer
interfaced as we can make it at this point.

Our GPS is the Garman
GPS-128 and works very nicely with the Navtech software.
Our depth sounder is a Signet-
SmartPak and even though it has neat features,
we use it primarily as a real time depth sounder.

Both of our steerage stations
are equipped with Ritchie
Compasses, accurate to a "T".
In the fall of 2005 we installed
a JRC 1500 Radar. Yeah its a great unit but since we
left the fog on the Left Coast of the US we haven't had much
of a chance to use it. It uses too much power to have it on
all the time on long Ocean voyages although I did turn it on
every time I ran the engine on the way over to Hawaii, just
for fun.

That brings us to our third and most accurate
crew member, our Monitor
Windvane Stearing system...
