We're lucky people, and we have
so much, but - oh! the things we still need...
Wish List
- Solar panels (Solara?),
regulator, etc. We're into smaller independant companies rather
than the BP/Siemens choices. 4 100 watt panels? BP4170s 175
watt panels are amazing - is anyone doing monocrystalline
panels this well outside the major companies?
- Spectra
watermaker - we have one 60 gallon tank,
but we do plan to be going cross-Pacific, so the more watermaking
ability, the better!
- Computer - best
for boating, run off 12 volt power.
- ShipModul - MiniPlex-42BT
Bluetooth W/Extended Configuration Capabilities
- Graphics program - the
best, with training.
- The whole world's worth of charts
with free updates.
- 10 year subscription
to a weather service that would overlay the weather reports
on our navigation software (Nobeltec Navigation Suite)
- Great computer speakers with low power needs
- Marine WiFi antenna - HyperLink
(www.hyperlinktech.com).
- Radar overlay program for Nobeltec
- Sonar overlay? we
haven't seen this in action.
- New mattress for the main berth.
- New
marine head, complete replacement of the
entire area.
- New covers for every single thing
- all of the old ones are shredding!
- SSB - maybe
Icom IC-M710? Something equipped to handle email... A
Pactor IIex or IIpro Modem and Pactor III Firmware upgrade
(we haven't researched this stuff nearly enough, but it comes
highly recommended, and seems like a good idea). Or KVH TracVision
4 (or G4) so we can get cable internet access and a simpler
SSB.
- Personal EPIRBs - ACR
Aqua Fix
- Big, bad-ass EPIRB - ACR
Global Fix Cat I.
- Wind generator - Rutland
913? We like that
one for its quiet, incessant operation. If you know of a better
one...
- Wind generator mounting posts for
the stern
- Exploding life boat
for serious emergencies and a complete ditch bag to bring
along
- 12-volt inversion system that is
sufficient to our needs - sine wave, 3000
watts?
- Solid stansions to
which we can attach solar panels and fuel/water canisters.
- Mast steps to reach
the top of the mast.
- Den Haan Anchor Lamp 12
inch oil lamp
- Low-tech water purifier - Canister
(made by us, probably) in two chambers, top and bottom, connected
by a tube. Painted black, with a large top opening and a plunger
that can be lifted and then a spigot in the bottom chamber.
Fill by pouring water in, let sit in the sun, open the spigot
to remove the water. Open the top, lift the plunger and scrape
out the salt and other material that is left.
