We
are circumnavigating
the planet Earth by using wind power, solar power, human power,
and as little petroleum as we can get away with. We believe:
if it takes us less than 15 or 20 years to get around this great
big (mostly water) planet of ours then we're either running
our engine too much or simply not paying attention to the people
or places around us!

To do the aforementioned
circumnavigation we also believe that seceding from all governments
and joining the global community through adventure, discovery
and the artistic exchange of the human experience is essential.
So when we tell stories we also listen in return and when we
take pictures we see the beauty of our world one moment at a
time.

As we search out definitions of civilization,
we will doubtless touch on many other key social themes. One
we've already hit is culture. Here's our first try at differentiating
between civilization and culture for the purposes of our trip:
Civilization is the overall state
of your relations with your world. You can be civilized or uncivilized
in your treatment and attitudes toward the earth, animals, people,
and yourself. Culture is the filter
and the set of tools you’ve been given and developed yourself
in order to understand and interact with civilization. |
